Selection process of assistant loco pilot is divided in five stages.

  • First Stage Computer-Based Test-I (CBT-I)
  • Second Stage is Computer-Based Test-II (CBT-II)
  • Third Stage is Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  • Fourth Stage is Document Verification (DV)
  • Fifth Stage is Medical Examination (ME)

This exam is an objective type and first stage of selection process. This is qualifying in nature and test basic ability of candidate. Total duration of exam is 60 Minutes. This test has a negative marking, 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

SYLLABUS for Part-A

Part-B is only a qualifying test in nature and shall have questions from the various trade syllabi as prescribed by Directorate General of Training (DGT). Qualifying Percentage – 35% for all candidates irrespective of category/community.

Electrical Engineering and combination of various streams of Electrical Engineering: Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Wireman, Armature & Coil Winder, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic.

Electronics Engineering and combination of various streams of Electronics Engineering: Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Radio & TV.

Mechanical Engineering and combination of various streams of Mechanical Engineering: Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic (Diesel), Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air- conditioning Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic.

Automobile Engineering and combination of various streams of Automobile Engineering: Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic (Diesel), Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic.
